The weekend is Chinese New Year and the Year of the Pig. Oink Oink.
This humble little creature represents a very important year in Chinese culture as it only comes around once every 60 years. So, a very rare accordance indeed and with the Pig we can expect to be bestowed with wealth and good fortune. Bring it on Lucky Pig.

At this steamed filled take away cafe the short but sweet bun menu will welcome The Piggy – a light pink baozi bun filled with sweet and sticky char siu pork and decorated with pointed ears, beaded eyes and a little snuffling snout. 4. Chinese New Year Parade
Sunday 10thFebruary
Dragon and lion dances will kick things off on Charing Cross Road at 10am, shimmying down through the streets to China Town. At noon, Trafalgar Square’s main stages will spring into action with traditional dance shows, contemporary hip-hop acts and Chinese performers.

Celebrating Chinese New Year Taiwanese-style, The Teahouse’s Taming of the Pig menu will run until February 28, featuring a fire cracker roll, poached oysters with tiger pearls and char siu Iberico pork and lardo rice. Along with the lucky food, they are hosting a series of festive events throughout the month, including lion dances on February 9 and 10, a Mahjong event with Carhartt on February 26, and a pig-centric dinner with chefs Fergus Henderson (St John) and Margot Henderson (Rochelle Canteen) on February 19.
