Fighting the Patriarchy- Scarlett Curtis hosts the first ever women’s event at male only members club

Happy International Women’s Day.

What a day, what a movement, what a gender.

And whilst its lovely that we have a day a year to celebrate us (thank you to government and NGO’s ), we here at The Producers think we should be celebrating the power of women a little bit every day. And we aren’t the only ones.

Audible have launched an original podcast called, To the Woman. Hosted by “the voice of Gen Z feminism” (Evening Standard, 2018) and Sunday Times best-seller Scarlett Curtis, which will be available all year alongside a dazzling away of inspiring female writer’s audiobooks.

In every episode anexceptional woman reads a letter to a woman who has inspired them from mothers, life-long friends to women they are yet to meet. Its powerful stuff.

And to celebrate the launch we decided to make history with the first solely female-led event hosted at the men’s only members club. Take that Patriarchy!

We welcomed an exceptional panel of remarkable women from the podcast series including June Sarpong, Lisa Luxx and Sangeeta Pillai who treated guests to an exclusive first listen of their letters, followed with a very spirited and honest panel discussion and audience Q&A.

To ensure that everyone of our guests (male & female) had a chance to truly feel part of the event, we created a write and share experience, so guests could write their own letters and post them at the end of the event. Cue a very emotional and powerful end to the evening.

Plus…all theproceeds from ticket sales for Spoken Worlds Presents: To The Woman was donated to Bloody Good Period which works to help end period poverty in the UK. Which will really make a massive difference to women all over the UK.

As an agency that has an 80% female board and mainly female leadership team, it’s events like these that break down barriers and set new precedents for women and gender equality, that we take great pride in creating, hosting and executing.

As the Spice Girls would say – “GIRL POWER”….Hell yes!
